West Allegheny School District: Wilson and McKee Elementary Project Status

The Hayes Design Group is working with the West Allegheny School District on two Elementary School projects. In an effort to update Wilson and McKee Elementary to meet today’s standards for educational environments, HDG undertook complete interior re-builds on both schools and designed a substantial new addition for Wilson Elementary.
The existing structures were in need of technological updates to support improved school security and energy efficiency. Further, the existing open plan layouts of each school, divided by movable partitions, yielded poor acoustical qualities throughout learning spaces, and limited the ability of natural light to penetrate central building spaces.
Exciting progress is being made on both fronts. Workers are wrapping up phase 4 construction at Wilson Elementary with an expected completion date in September of this year! Likewise, McKee is off to a fast start. Phase one construction is expected to be completed this September as well. Phase one includes complete interior build outs and renovations of the administrative, library, cafeteria, kitchen, and some classroom spaces.
