West View Water Authority New Water Treatment Plant Facilities

West View Water Authority – Beaver County Water Treatment Plant and Intake Building

In collaboration with Bankson Engineers, Inc., HDG Architects designed a series of buildings housing water treatment facilities for the West View Water Authority. The scope of work included four buildings totaling more than 60,000 SF on two sites. The Baden Borough site extracts raw water from the Ohio River, while the Economy Borough site processes and treats potable water, then and distributes it to consumers. The treatment site will be capable of processing approximately 15 million gallons of water each day. The main building in the Economy location includes employee spaces such as offices, conference rooms, locker rooms, labs, and a central monitoring station.  The entire project design incorporates cost-efficient, durable materials to provide a long-lasting, aesthetically pleasing complex that harmonizes with its surroundings.  The project utilizes daylighting in occupied spaces to reduce the amount of artificial lighting needed and to provide a more comfortable work environment. Part of this strategy also included using skylights above pump locations to not only provide lighting in those rooms, but for ease of future pump replacement.
