St. Paul of the Cross

HDG has been working with Pittsburgh’s Passionist Catholic community to maintain and make improvements to their South Side campus for over 20 years. The St. Paul of the Cross campus consists of a Monastery, Retreat Center, and Church, much of which dates back to the mid-19th century. Over the past 20 years, HDG has provided architectural services for feasibility studies, design of new and renovated M/E/P, fire sprinkler, and fire alarm systems, roof repair and replacement, restoration of historic structures, chapel improvements including new finishes, lighting, and fire alarm systems, renovations to the monastery rooms, an elevator addition, and updates and renovations to the retreat center rooms, including reconfiguration of spaces within an existing building.

Most recently, HDG provided architectural services for 8,200 SF of interior alterations to the 2nd and 3rd floors of the Retreat Center to renovate the remaining retreatant rooms, as part of a Design-Build project in conjunction with Mascaro Construction. In addition, HDG also provided design for an ADA suite and select alterations to an existing bedroom suite on the 1st floor.
