New Peters Township High School Opens to Students
January 15, 2021
The new Peters Township High School will open to students on January 19th for the first day of classes in the new, state-of-the-art building. The new 298,000 SF, three-story high school designed by HDG and Weber Murphy Fox consists of three wings (Academic, Fine Arts, and Physical Education) and includes fifty general instruction classrooms surrounding a two-story “Learning Commons” with an adjacent learning stair, 1,200-seat performance auditorium, food court style cafeteria with an outdoor dining patio, 2,000-seat multi-sport gymnasium, 300-seat auxiliary gymnasium, and an 8-lane natatorium. The school’s design features 21st century learning concepts including interactive technology and spaces that promote collaboration with flexible furniture arrangements and a number of security features.
Construction of the new high school began in July 2018 and is anticipated to be complete in mid-2021. The high school was recently awarded Best Education Architecture Project (Pennsylvania): Peters Township High School in the BUILD Architecture Awards 2020 by BUID Magazine.
