HDG Supports Local Children with Fifth Annual Christmas Gift Drive

December 6, 2019

As part of HDG’s mission to give back to the local community, each year in December Tim Reidy coordinates HDG’s annual christmas gift drive in support of the East End Cooperative Ministry in East Liberty, whose mission is to help vulnerable adults and at-risk children and youth throughout the neighborhoods of Pittsburgh. Since Tim started this tradition at HDG five years ago, the firm has raised over $4,500 that was used for HDG employees to buy, wrap, and deliver toys and clothes as a donation to help make sure every child feels joy on Christmas morning!

This year, we were able to provide gifts for a total of twleve children between the ages of 6 and 10. The initial money raised by employees was doubled, thanks to the firm’s matching program for employee charity donations, and just over $1,000 was used to buy gifts to help these local children receive everything on their list!

After all of the presents were bought, we got into the holiday spirit by taking some time out of the workday to gather for a special gift-wrapping lunch on December 5th. With plenty of food, loads of wrapping paper, and holiday movies playing, we all played the role of Santa’s elves and wrapped up the special gifts. Then, HDG’s Tim Reidy played the role of Santa Claus and dropped off bags and bags of gifts to be given to the children on Christmas. Since each bag is donated anonymously, this keeps with the magic of the season, the way it should be.
