Hayes Design Group Architects Awarded Central Catholic High School Project
July 19, 2018
HDG was recently awarded a contract by Central Catholic High School and began work on a feasibility study for the Christian Brothers’ Residence, a multi-story residential facility on campus where the teaching Brothers reside. The structure was built in 1890s and is a significant local historical structure! The study will assess the structural and mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) conditions of the facility and look at possible ways of improving the accessibility of the building. HDG will also be developing a program for incorporating school administration offices and improving space utilization of the entire building. Once the feasibility study is complete, Central Catholic will decide which renovations to pursue. Potential renovations include an elevator addition, ramps, and accessibility upgrades to restrooms for the residents. Additional upgrades may include new LED lighting and air conditioning throughout the facility.
Central Catholic is a college preparatory, Catholic school for boys guided by the educational principles of St. John Baptist de La Salle. Central Catholic’s historic campus is located in the city of Pittsburgh’s Oakland neighborhood and opened its doors in 1927. For more information, visit: www.centralcatholichs.com.
